RME360 - Tampa , FL

  Working at RME
Commentry on the above Employer :
I worked, via Robert Half Technology, for RME360 for about two and a half months for what was supposed to be a six month contract. It was rather chaotic.

I kept getting apologized to for not getting the proper attention during my training period. “Oh. It’s crazy right now and we weren’t planning on this or that.” I was told that it would “look better” if I’d shadow others to learn the position better, but when I tried I was usually told that they were too busy and not a good time. This happens at small companies. So I practiced work on my own and searched the internet to refresh my MS Fox Pro skills. At one point I had made a serious error, which my trainer caught. I was warned to be more careful. I’m glad that the error was corrected before it affected the client. At that point I had only been there about a month and still getting used to operations at the company. I always asked my boss if there was anything that I could do once 5:30 rolled around and also assisted on two special projects for management.

On July 30th I was told that the very next day was to be my last. RME and Robert Half had known this for a month! RME had written proof that RHT would be the one to advise me. RHT apologized, but I was still out of a job and have been since. Dirty pool on both parts. If RME figured that I knew of the early separation then why didn’t any of them ask what I’d be doing next?

The reason that I was given for dismissal was that I wasn’t catching on fast enough for the upcoming busy season. That may be, but RME was also having budget issues, too—according to the CEO and on at least two occasions that they were having to give back too many refunds to clients due to mistakes. I think the root of it all is that the person that I replaced had been fired for a serious error with one of the largest clients. This employee had been with RME for more than six years. RME is now gun-shy and doesn’t trust anyone who isn’t already established with them. Many have been there for a long time and seem to be happy, but I don’t recommend anyone new for this company. They’re one of those companies that say to you in an interview, “We need someone who will hit the ground running.” Ugh! What’s with that? No one should be allowed to say that as everyone needs time to learn.

On a positive note I was glad to meet RME’s president and founder, Jorge Villar. He’s a brilliant guy and I’m sure he’s why RME still exists today.
