GAS PRICES

  Commentry for the above Issue : [ Total Postings : 1 ]
  Give Me a Break
Since when is it the government's job to regulate prices? I suppose one can make the argument that energy is not a competitive industry because the barriers to entry are so high and statutes pose extreme limitations, thus price regulation is OK. However, there better be some pretty clear evidence of excessive profits before price regulation makes sense in our market economy. People always want the easy, feel-good/sounds-good fix and they forget why we are the best country. It is largely due to our market economy which by its very nature is efficient, innovative, and responsive in terms of both price and service. Take away the profit incentives (as would the idiots who support nationalized health care) and you get shortages, poor products, poor service, etc . . . just like Russia before it collapsed . . . most intelligent people know that.
